My Approach to Scenario Writing and Multimedia: Visual Lounge Podcast

I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Pierce on the Visual Lounge Podcast recently about scenario writing and multimedia. In our conversation, I shared tips for writing, using storytelling elements, and when to use multimedia to enhance your messaging. We explored why knowing your audience and context is the starting point of all successful content and how you can learn more about your audience’s challenges, scenarios, and goals (even when you don’t have direct access to the information).

Learning points from the episode include:

  • One of my top tips for using images or video in scenarios
  • How do you get started in multimedia production?
  • How to know what makes good writing for multimedia scenarios
  • Advice for getting better at writing
  • How to balance realistic dialogue with concise messaging
  • How to nail your audience focus when you don’t have all the information
  • When to use multimedia content in certain training scenarios

Further reading on writing and multimedia in scenarios

I’ve written about writing and multimedia in scenarios multiple times in the past. Check out my Storytelling and Scenarios page for dozens of posts on writing, developing, working with SMEs, and more. You may also be interested in these blog posts.

If you’re tired of me sharing podcast interviews, good news! This the last one in my queue for now, so you should get a break. I normally try to space out my podcasts and presentations a little more. This time, the schedules worked out for me to do three podcasts pretty much back-to-back. I’ll be back to regularly scheduled writing after this.
