Most workplace training stops at delivering information – but does that actually help people apply what they’ve learned? Practice in workplace learning

As I commented to Guy Wallace on LinkedIn, for all that scenario-based learning is fairly trendy right now, so much of this is “back to fundamentals” with practice and feedback. Practice and feedback are one of the factors that separates training from communication. If you want to increase the impact of your training, look for ways to incorporate more realistic practice and useful feedback. Branching scenarios are one way to provide that practice, of course, but we have a bunch of different options and approaches available to us for different situations and audiences. Anything you do to provide more practice and feedback is likely to get better results than just delivering information.
